QUESTIONS ‘POPPED’ AND ANSWERED
“The cake was wonderful. It fit the theme perfectly, all the colors were spot on! & the cake itself was so moist and delicious. Everyone loved the cake and was asking who made it. Thank You for everything, we will definitely be using you for future cakes!”

what can i expect to pay? is there a price list?
We do not have a general price list because each cake is one-of-a-kind. Some factors that we consider are the complexity of the design, the time invested in the creation of the artwork and finally the number of servings. Working through pictures and sketches, we will work together to define your vision.
Pricing starts at $5 per serving, the average cake falls within the $7-$10 range. Because my cakes are 100% from scratch, they cost a little more. It is important to me that the cake tastes as good as it looks. I currently have a $250 minimum order. Each wedding cake is custom, so reach out to me for a quote.
Please contact us for more details or to schedule a consultation.
NOTICE: Due to Covid19, until further notice, consultations will be made via Zoom.
do you require a deposit? is it refundable?
Yes, a non-refundable 50% deposit is to be paid upon signing the contract. Remaining balance is due two weeks before wedding date.
Please keep in mind, deposits are date specific and non-refundable. The moment I have a deposit in hand I will start to turn away work for that date.
If you know you’d like to work with me, but are still unsure as to the design, you can place a non-refundable $250 save the date retainer. Naturally this will be applied to your deposit when you are ready.
is there a charge for a consultation?
There is no charge for the consultation. An hour is set-aside for each client, which has proven to be ample time to talk through the design ideas and get to know each other a little.
Often, appointments are scheduled before and after yours so please plan to be on time so we have a full hour.
NOTICE: Due to Covid19,until further notice, consultations will take place via Zoom.

what's your delivery area? what's the cost?

Delivery fees are additional and are calculated at a per mile rate – round-trip.
PROCESS
so you work from home?
Yes I do! The Cake Attic is proud to be family owned and operated since 2010. We are registered and insured in the city of Salisbury, NC and our kitchen has been inspected by the Department of Agriculture.
do you have a phone number?
Yes, of course. The reason I prefer email (and stopped giving out my number) is that for me email is 100% more reliable.
We live in an area with horrible reception and I'm constantly getting dropped calls. Sometimes I get notifications for missed calls...phone never rang. We've tried different cell phone service providers, bought a signal booster and nothing has significantly helped. So for now e-mail it is.
where are you located?
We're in Salisbury, NC. Quaint little city, as most small cities in NC are.
what are your hours?
Our store hours are by appointment only. We don't have walk-ins because we don't have product ready to go. Everything is custom made and therefore needs to be ordered in advance.
what'll i need to bring to our consultation?
It's helpful to have made venue, color and floral decisions prior to our meeting so we have that information available. Additionally, any element from your event that you feel we can draw inspiration from is great to bring as well. Things like pictures of your dress, venue, invitations or design motif… a monogram, patterns such as damask, chevron, scroll work, a family crest, etc. In essence, whatever you've been inspired by.
Before you arrive for your consultation, it is helpful to have a budget in mind for what you would like to spend on your cake. This will give us a better sense of what we can design for you.
The design process is definitely a collaborative effort and we’ll keep going until you have a design you love!
NOTICE: Due to Covid19, until further notice, consultations will take place via Zoom.
can my wedding colors be matched to the icing?
Absolutely perfect color matches between edible products and paper or fabric dyes are impossible and can’t be guaranteed, but I can get pretty close.
To make color match as close as possible, please provide actual color samples or materials. Free paint chips from hardware stores are usually a great resource. Digital photographs can’t be depended on for accurate color matches.
can i pick-up my cake instead of having it delivered?
Of course, however there are a few things to keep in mind when driving with a cake:
1- You’ll need a flat surface to set the cake on.
2- No sudden stops, starts or sharp turns..
3- Buttercream…as the name implies is made with butter. If the cake is left in a hot car while you run other errands you may return to find a buttercream puddle. PLEASE go straight to your venue. If you have other stops to make, PLEASE make us the last one.
Cakes are kept refrigerated until they are delivered or picked up. They're sturdy, well supported and dowelled to avoid shifting. However, once the cake leaves our possession we cannot guarantee the cake will not sweat, color-bleed, collapse, melt or be damaged.
The Cake Attic is not responsible for any damage that occurs to any client transported cake once it has left our shop.
what makes your cakes so delicious?
Each cake is completely home-made, baked from scratch and to order. No frozen cakes and no box mixes here! Everything from the caramel to the pralines, the fruit puree to the fruit curds, the pastry cream to the buttercream and the cakes, of course, are made from scratch . I use real butter, real eggs, real vanilla in my cakes and buttercreams.
Cakes have four layers of cake and three layers of filling (sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on the design) for that perfect ratio of cake to filling.
Your cake will be beautiful, sturdy, and taste amazing.
how far in advance should i book you?
The sooner the better, to reserve your place on our calendar. If you know you will be getting married during wedding season (April-October) you should reach out to me as soon as you have your date set. It's a busy time of the year I could be booked as early as a year in advance for a specific day.
ABOUT LAST MINUTE ORDERS
I understand that there is such a thing as a last minute wedding or that a baker may fall through at the eleventh hour. If you are without a cake a couple of weeks or even a week before the wedding, we may be able to help, if our schedule allows.
Due to time constraints you may be limited as to flavors and decorations, but I am confident we can come up with something you’ll love. Please e-mail to find out availability for your particular date.
“The wedding cake was gorgeous! Everyone said it was the best cake they ever had! Thank you for everything you’ve done for me, I hope I can work with you again!”
