Q. Do you work from home?

A. Yes I do. The business is registered with the city of Salisbury, the kitchen has been inspected by the Dept. of Agriculture and we're insured.

Q. Do you offer tastings? How many people can I bring with me?

A. Yes, we offer a complimentary tasting and consultation for you and a guest. Although cake tasting is an element of your event that often times the whole family is eager to be a part of, we’ve found it’s a bit difficult to focus with too much input! We can accommodate a total of four guests. Arrangements must be made in advance for more than two so we are sure to have enough cake for you.

Q. Is there a charge for the consultation? How long can we expect to be there?

A. There is not a fee for tastings. An hour is set-aside for each client, which has proven to be ample time to both design and taste our cakes. Often, appointments are scheduled before and after yours so please plan to be on time so we have a full hour.

Please keep in mind that cake samples are prepared specifically for your appointment. We ask for the courtesy of 48 hours notice if your appointment needs to be rescheduled.

Q. What do I need to bring to our appointment?

A. It is helpful to have made venue, color and floral decisions prior to our meeting so we have that information available. Additionally, any element from your event that you feel we can draw inspiration from is great to bring as well. Pictures of your dress, venue, your invitations or design motif… a monogram, color swatches… a piece of wrapping/scrapbook paper that catches your eye… it can all be helpful.

The design process is definitely a collaborative effort and we’ll keep going until you have a design you love.

Q. What Can I Expect To Pay For A Wedding Cake? Do you have a price list?

A. We do not have a general price list because each cake is one-of-a-kind. Because of the care we give to each order we must require a minimum of $100 on all of our custom cakes. Some factors that we consider are the complexity of the design, the time invested in the creation of the artwork and finally the number of servings.

Pricing starts at $4 per serving for buttercream cakes and $5 per serving for fondant cakes. Ultimately the price is based on the complexity of design and the number of people being served. Sheet cakes are available to supplement larger parties; prices start at $2.75 per serving. **Please note that we do not allow cakes from other bakeries to be served at the reception. Much of our business is based on recommendations and we can't afford to have our reputation tarnished by another bakery.

Before you arrive for your consultation, it is helpful to have a budget in mind for what you would like to spend on your cake.  This will give us a better sense of what we can design for you.

When designing one of our customized cakes, we work very closely with you to create the perfect style that matches both the personality and the occasion of your event. Working through pictures and sketches, we will work together to define your vision which we then turn into a beautiful and completely unique piece of art that is sure to please your guests.

Please contact us for more details or to schedule a consultation.

Q. Does your minimum apply to birthday cakes?

A. Yes. The minimum order applies to custom cakes for any occasion.

Q. How many layers of cake do you use in each tier?

A. Our cakes have four layers of cake and three layers of filling (sometimes more depending on the design) for that perfect ratio of cake to filling.

Q. Do I have to make a deposit to reserve my wedding date?  If so, how much is it and can I get a refund, if necessary?

A. Yes, a non-refundable $100 hold the date deposit can be made if you are sure you want to work with us, but are still unsure as to the design of your cake. Upon signing the contract a 50% deposit will have to be paid based on the total amount. If a hold the date deposit had been made it will be applied toward the 50% deposit. We ask that you be absolutely certain that you would like to work with us. If a cancellation is received more than eight weeks prior to the promised delivery date, the aforementioned deposit will be refunded less $100 administrative fee. If a cancellation is received less than eight weeks prior to the promised delivery date, the aforementioned deposit is forfeited.

Q. I am not ready to make design decisions yet but I want to reserve our date so you don’t get booked up, is that possible?

A. Yes. You may reserve your date with a $100 deposit. Final arrangements just need to be made at least 8 weeks prior to your event.  Again, we ask that you be absolutely certain that you would like to work with us, as all deposits are date specific and non-refundable.

Q. How far in advance should I order a cake?

A. The sooner the better to reserve your place on our calendar. We require a minimum of one month but for weddings we suggest six months to one year.

We definitely attempt to accommodate last minute requests if our schedule allows.  Please call or email to find out our availability for your particular date.
